Parents Meetings

 

 When parents are involved in a learners academic life they are far more likely to succeed. Watch this video to learn the what, why and how of running a parents meeting.

Each branch needs to hold at least three parents' meetings per year. The objectives of the meetings are to: 

  • Hear from parents about their concerns, experiences and suggestions for IY
  • Ensure that parents have a full understanding of the organisation's mission and values
  • Have a clarity around the ways in which their chilrens' participation at IY will benefit them
  • Understand the attendance requirements and kickout policy
  • Are informed about the benefits of tertiary study and the impact on earning potential
  • Invite parents to volunteer
  • Provide parents with the information / contacts they need in dealing with the education of their children
